In 2024, once again there will be a women’s Gravel and Tar cycling race. ONCE AGAIN, THE WOMEN WILL HAVE THE SAME PRIZE MONEY AS THE MEN.
The 2024 La Femme will comprise three gravel sectors making up approximately 20km and another 80 km on the tarmac for a total of just over100 km.
The race will start in the small township of Ashhurst at the foot of the Ruahine Ranges before heading up the beautiful Pohingina Valley. From there it will climb up to the Watersheds and then descend down to the Valley once more. A second (shorter) lap will then go up Valley Rd, before heading towards Ashhurst with a short lap in and out of town. You can find the 2024 race route here.
The women’s event is unique, being the only women’s UCI road race in NZ, and the only UCI 1.2 level race on the women’s international calendar for 2024.
Interested teams can enter the event by emailing Steve Stannard at: steve@gravelandtar.com, or calling him on +64 (0)226848718
