This internationally recognised event is geared to showcase cycling in the region and create awareness of the events, having something for everyone and promote cycling that is both fun and competitive, being more than just a means of transport but not always a race, and certainly an investment in health.
The first edition in 2016 of the international Gravel and Tar put Palmerston North and the Manawatu on the world cycling stage with attracting a viewing audience of 1.6 million and a wider support of some 84 million people worldwide. Wow!
